Pantone Christmas ornaments for an extra-designy holiday.
Must resist designer purchase… although, the somewhat surgical color precision here is a bit unsettling… reminds me of a certain quote from a certain cartoon:
“Gee, I didn’t know they still made wooden Christmas trees.” - Linus, from A Charlie Brown Christmas

Well, being that Tumblr’s been down for a day or so, it seems all my queued up posts for the advent calendar were brought to a halt! So here’s some advent calendar catch up!
Behind the December 4th door…
A wonderfully modern approach to the nativity, by Valerie Atkisson. The construction is two flat pieces of laser cut steel that link together in the center. While the one pictured above is gold plated, I’m also partial to the one below in satin nickel.

Behind the December 5th door…
Following in the modern footsteps of the previous day’s surprise, comes the Superstar Christmas Tree from Modernica. This is laser cut baltic birch and is almost 6 feet tall! While the natural wooden color is certainly nice, I wouldn’t mind it in white either. Plus, you can still decorate it like any other tree and give your Christmas a modern flair.

Behind the December 6th door…
Here’s a shot of classic Christmas advertising!
From the 70’s comes the classic Norelco Christmas ad, a first in the industry to use stopmotion/claymation as an advertising tool. This set the standard for Christmas ads and was even modernized by Norelco in the 90’s just to keep the tradition going.
All right, caught up to today at least… the December 7th door is ready to be opened so I’ll post that here in a few minutes. Also, did you notice the snow effect on the blog? I finally sussed out how to get the javascript on tumblr so now it’ll be snowing all December!
