“Nemeses” (featuring John Roderick of The Long Winters) by Jonathan Coulton.

This came up on shuffle recently and it’s just so catchy, I can’t get it out of my head. Clever as heck too.

Plus, the guest artist on the track is the awesome John Roderick from the band, The Long Winters, who are responsible for one of my favorite songs of all time.

5 Tracks On Heavy Circulation

I haven’t done a music post in a while, so here’s a few non-orthodox remix tracks I’ve been shuffling recently while hard-at-design. As always, the titles are links, so right click “Save As” if you want em.

1) Illmerican More (Maroon 5 vs. Wolfgang Gartner) - DJ Ellipsis

A highly danceable club mix using Maroon 5’s “Give A Little More.” It’s got attitude and it’s great. Enough said.

2) ET (Katy Perry) - Biometrix Dubstep Remix

Katy Perry’s “ET” has gone even darker with some heavy wobble bass and dubstep grinding. It’s as dirty sounding as Katy’s innuendos, and in dubstep, that is not necessarily a bad thing.

3) Video Games (Lana Del Rey) - Jamie Woon Remix

Lana Del Rey seems to be blowing up among the hype machine crowd and if you haven’t heard her, check out the video for her big track, “Video Games”. That track alone is beautiful, sad, and a little haunting. The remix here by Jamie Woon adds a bit of pitch-shifting and stutters to give this track an even darker, trance-y, club feel.

4) Pumped Up Kicks (Foster The People) - Butch Clancy Remix

Yeah yeah, I hear you Complainy Mc Complainerson, “this song is overplayed.” Well I say, what are you listening to the radio for in the first place? This Butch Clancy remix takes the song to a new level with some of the best uses of rewinds I’ve ever heard. Throw in some wobble bass and you have a song worthy of one of the most insane dance videos to hit the internet in a while.

5) Just Feel (MGMT, Lady Gaga, Justice) - DJ Ellipsis

Mashups seem to be a bit passé these days, but this throwback mashup is too good to pass up. Taking MGMT’s “Electric Feel”, Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance”, and Justice’s digital slap-bass-line, DJ Ellipsis makes a tight, party mashup that feels like these songs should always be together.

— That’s it for the tracks, below is just a bit of bonus writing on Coldplay, of all things. Anyways, tweet me if you liked what you heard!

Two Paragraphs About Coldplay

I dig that Coldplay single “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall”, but “Paradise” was so melodramatic I couldn’t finish it. I haven’t heard the full album yet, but iTunes sure is making a fuss about pre-ordering it, allowing previews for one new track a day till it’s release. it just seems a bit much.

I’m not gonna say “all new Coldplay sucks” because there were a few decent tracks on Viva La Vida, I think they were just too heavily-produced for some people’s taste. Judging by these new tracks, I doubt this album will be near the “lo-fi-ness” of Parachutes (the best Coldplay album IMO… shut up), but I don’t think anyone should expect that. Coldplay’s a dramatically different band than they were on those older albums. Love them or hate them, they are a world-recognized band and that heavy-production sound works worldwide. Can’t blame them for playing to an audience, right?
